Who should do this and Why

The following points highlight why thermal safety is essential in LV systems:

● Heat in LV Panels is typically generated due to Overloading, Improper terminations or Insulation failure when left unnoticed in LV systems.

● If left unmonitored, this results in:

- Reduced safety for personnel and equipment

- Increased Losses due to the heat generated and reduced electrical system performance,

Increase in temperature shortens the life of electrical components

This makes Real‑Time Temperature Monitoring in LV panels not just useful, but critical.

Thermal management and Online Temperature monitoring - Steps overview

Below is a quick overview on how local online thermal monitoring has been implemented with TMZ in PCC and iMCC to enable Quick insights and fast risk mitigation

Step #1: Identifying the critical joints in a LV Panel

Critical heating points include:

- ACB output terminals,

- MCCB terminals (mainly Y Phase) and Horizontal busbar joints

The M12 lug-type sensors are mounted in the critical joints and wired the TMZ module in the metering cubicle. Each TMZ supports 8 NTC thermistor sensors (can be shared as 4+4 -> 3 Ph & N of HBB and 3 Ph & N of ACB Outgoing terminals), and 20 TMZs can communicate with a single ZG1000(Zigbee gateway); 20 x 8 = 160 Critical joints monitored per gateway over Modbus TCP/IP.

Step #2: Local Online Temperature Monitoring via HMI

● The TMZs wirelessly communicate with ZG1000 gateway in a LV panel and connect to an HMI with Modbus TCP/IP support for local monitoring and alerting.

● The below images of an installation show sensors mounted in the busbar chamber, TMZ & ZG1000 in the metering cubicle and Real-time monitoring with visual alerts on HMI.

Step #3: Action Plan for Anomaly detection

In case, if any anomalous rise in temperature is identified through alerts, the joints can be quickly checked for any improper termination, or the loading on the system can be decreased in case of any potential overloading had happened. Therefore, TMZ makes the complete system transparent, digital and empowers stakeholders with quick insights to take quicker decisions.

How TMZ helps

Therefore, diving into the ocean of real-time temperature monitoring is very crucial in the electrical journey and the TMZ Solution perfectly sits at the intersection of user comfort and digital completeness, offering:

- Easier monitoring

- Faster troubleshooting

- Better long‑term reliability

- Enhanced safety and operational performance
